Unwinder

Our unwinders are used for the further processing or finishing of web-shaped materials. Wherever materials such as paper, film, or nonwoven are fed into the production process, an unwinder is required. Even in the basic configuration, our unwinders offer you a versatile solution that can be expanded with various upgrade levels. Thanks to the modular system, you can customize the unwinder to your specific requirements.

Winder basic configuration

Our AWB series winders are equipped in their basic version with a robust welded frame, Safety Chucks, and a clamping shaft. For unwinders, we offer the option of expanding the assembly with a manually adjustable, pneumatic, or electronic Magnetic powder brake. For rewinders, the winder can be prepared accordingly for connection to a gearbox or drive.*

Winder upgrade level

Our AWB series winders offer not only a basic configuration, but also various upgrade levels to meet your requirements. With these additional options, you can further optimise the performance and functionality of your unwinder and adapt it to your individual needs. Below you will find the available upgrade levels to enable precise and efficient material processing.

  • Control of the actual tension force using load cells.

By using load cells, the actual web tension value can be measured and controlled. The desired setpoint can be easily set via the control panel and is fine-tuned using PID control.

  • Web tension control based on diameter correction using an ultrasonic distance sensor.

In cases where identical rolls are always unwound, a simpler solution using an ultrasonic distance sensor is also suitable: the change in roll diameter is recorded and the resulting required brake torque is adjusted to keep the web tension constant.

Depending on customer requirements and conditions, one or more idler rollers can be integrated in a wide range of diameters and coatings.

To monitor whether the roll is running full or empty, an empty-run monitoring system can be installed. It uses a LASER to detect the material diameter. When a previously set roll diameter is reached, a signal light illuminates and indicates to the operator that the winding process will soon end.

If required, multiple winding stations can also be installed on an unwinder or rewinder. With this solution, several material webs can be unwound simultaneously in a space-saving manner, or the subsequent winding process can be prepared in advance during the ongoing winding process to save time.
