Individual unwinder with web edge control

For a customer in the paper industry, we were asked to design an individual solution as a simple unwinding machine, in which primarily our own IBD components were to be installed.

The unwinder was to be a robust and low-maintenance application with which material can be fed reliably and accurately. The easy change of the material rolls and the adaptation to the CI colours of the company were further important criteria for the customer.

Requirements from the customer:

  • the max. load is 1.5 T on a ø200 mm cardboard core

  • the main machine requires a centre-precise feed of the paper web

  • the web tension should be adjustable via a brake

  • the circumference should be monitored

To meet these requirements, we designed a simple winding machine with a robust steel frame that can be moved axially for centre control. For the control of the web tension we decided to use a controlled pneumatic disc brake.
