Plastic pipes

Internal and external treatment system for plastic pipes.

The system for improving the adhesion of insulating foam in pipes, including for district heating systems.

Ferrarini & Benelli has developed and patented a special system for treating the inner surface of polyethylene pipes. These pipes are used in district heating systems to transport hot liquids from thermal power plants and for the heating of residential and industrial facilities.

The corona treatment is carried out inside the pipes to improve the adhesion of the insulating polyurethane foam to the inner wall.

Our system can be adapted to pipes of different diameters and is available in two models:

  • TTU – 500 For pipes with a diameter of 90 mm to 500 mm and a maximum wall thickness of 8 mm.

  • TTU – 1000 For pipes with a diameter of 400 mm to 1000 mm and a maximum wall thickness of 15 mm.

The patent was developed by Mr Diego Benelli, co-founder of Ferrarini & Benelli.

This system solves the problem of uniform, non-localised treatment of the entire internal surface, even for pipes of different diameters and thicknesses. Compared to existing systems for treating the internal surfaces of pipes, this invention offers significant advantages and flexibility, as it does not require the internal electrode to be replaced when the diameter of the pipe to be treated changes within a certain range.

In addition, the system also performs an external treatment designed to improve the adhesion of the printing ink used for markings.

Our internal and external treatment system for plastic pipes offers an innovative solution to increase the efficiency and quality of district heating systems and to meet pipe-treatment requirements across a wide range of applications.
