Unwinder

Our unwinders are used in the processing or refining of web-shaped materials. Wherever materials such as paper, film, or nonwoven fabric are fed into the production process, an unwinder is required. Even in its basic configuration, our unwinders provide a versatile solution that can be further expanded with various upgrade options. Thanks to the modular system, you can customize the unwinder to meet your specific requirements.

Winder Basic Level

Our AWB series winders come in their basic version with a sturdy welding frame, folding bearings, and a tension shaft. For unwinders, we offer the option to expand the assembly with a manually adjustable, pneumatic, or electronic magnetic powder brake. For rewinders, the winder can be prepared for connection to a gearbox or drive accordingly.

Winder Configuration Level

Our AWB series winders not only offer a basic configuration but also various upgrade options to meet your specific requirements. With these additional options, you can further optimize the performance and functionality of your unwinder and tailor it to your individual needs. Below are the available upgrade options to enable precise and efficient material processing.
Winder configuration level
  • Regulation of the actual web tension by using load cells.

By using load cells, the actual value of the web tension can be measured and readjusted. The desired setpoint can be easily set via the control panel and readjusted by the PID control.

  • Control of the web tension based on diameter correction by using an ultrasonic distance sensor.

In cases where always the same kind of coil are unwound, a simpler solution using an ultrasonic distance sensor is also available, in this case, the change in coil diameter is detected and the resulting required torque on the brake will be adjusted to keep the tension stable.

  • Control of the material position based on a linear actuator.

The upper frame of the winder moves on the fixed lower frame by using an actuator and a linear guiding, according to the material position. In case of a rewinder, a straight winding edge and in case of an unwinder, an accurate introduction into the downstream processes can be guaranteed.

  • Control of the material position based on an offset pivoting web guide.

Instead of a split unwinder with upper and lower frame, an offset pivoting web guide can be installed on the winder for edge control.

Depending on customer requirements and conditions, one or more idle rollers can be integrated in a wide variety of diameters and coatings.

An idle running monitoring can be installed to monitor whether the winder is running full or empty. A LASER detectes the material diameter. When a previously set coil diameter is reached, a signal lamp flashes up to indicate the operator that the winding process ends soon.

If required, several winding stations can be installed on one un- or rewinder. With this solution, several material webs can be unwound at the same time, saving space, or the follow-up winding process can be prepared while the winding process is still running, saving time.
